Celebrities With Pets: The Furry Friends of The Rich and Famous

Quite often, a celebrity can start a trend without any intention of doing so. A certain brand being worn, a phone being used, or a venue being visited can transform something from forgotten or never noticed to the place everyone needs to visit or the item of clothing everyone needs to be wearing. This even extends to pets. We all saw the sudden appearance of small dogs being carried around in handbags, didn’t we?

At PBS Pet Travel, it’s evident we love animals. So, we thought for the second of this month’s blogs we would look at 5 well-known celebrities and their pets.

Justin Bieber and Oscar

Justin Bieber has been a huge presence in our media over the past 10-15 years. Whether it be for his music or for some controversy that he has found himself embroiled in. Since Christmas 2018 though, his fans and plenty of animal lovers have got to see Biebers animal loving side thanks to the introduction of Oscar, a blonde Yorkshire Terrier.

Such has Oscars’ popularity risen since he came into the Bieber fold, his own Instagram account has amassed around one million followers. Oscar isn’t alone though, he follows Bieber and his wife Hailey around the world with Sushi and Tuna, two exotic cats that get to enjoy the celebrity life with the singer.

Lewis Hamilton and Roscoe

Fans of Formula One may have well seen Roscoe following racing legend Lewis Hamilton around the paddock or at events over the past few years. 9 years old and a celeb in his own right, Roscoe has become the talk of the dog world. He has a huge social media following with 750k Instagram followers and can command modelling fees…. That’s right, modelling. Lewis Hamilton signed Roscoe up to a modelling agency where he auditions against other dogs and then goes on to earn over $700 a day for his canine antics.

Lewis Hamilton is proudly vegan and introduced the same diet to Roscoe after he noticed that Roscoe was having breathing issues and struggling to walk long distances. According to Hamilton, since the change in diet, Roscoe is much healthier and happier!

Kylie Jenner and Kevin

It wouldn’t be a celebrity list without including a Kardashian/Jenner reference, would it? The family that seems to never leave the headlines for either good or bad reasons do often bring smiles to the faces of people other than their fans. In this instance, it is Kylie Jenner, allegedly a self-made billionaire and her latest canine companion Kevin. The ninth dog in her collection, Kevin is an Italian Greyhound that joins Norman, Bambi, Harlie, Rosie, Penny, Ernie, and others. With so many dogs and a jet-set lifestyle, it is hard to know just how many she regularly looks after but it is safe to say each likely receives 5-star treatment no matter where in the world they happen to be.

Taylor Swift and Benjamin Button

Taylor Swift is one of the leading artists in the world and has a legion of fans that follow her every move in the news and on social media. If you happen to be one of them, then there is a good chance you have met Benjamin Button. Acquired in 2019 when on the set of her video for the track “Me!” Taylor adopted him right away and introduced him to her growing feline family. With Meredith Gray and Olivia Benson – yes those are the cat’s names – already enjoying the celeb lifestyle, Benjamin Button soon joined the family and fully immersed himself in it. With regular posts on Instagram of the cats enjoying themselves, Taylor also includes references to them in her lyrics showing they are never far from her mind.

Paul O’Grady and Sausage

We couldn’t complete this list without a mention of a British icon and a true animal lover. Paul O’Grady was a man that illustrated just how much of a bond humans can have with their pets. At the time of his death, it was reported that he shared his farmhouse with not just his partner but with five dogs, pigs, goats, alpacas, sheep, and owls.

Sausage was the latest addition to this collection and arrived in February last year after a visit to Battersea Dogs Home. The Dachshund was found stray in Poland and then cared for at the dog’s home until Paul clapped eyes on him.  Until his passing, Paul lovingly posted on social media pictures and videos of his pets playing, causing mayhem, and having the same zest for life that he did.
