How to Book Your Pet’s Flight with PBS Pet Travel

When should I book my pet’s flight?

Well, this really is dependent on the destination and the amount of preparation involved. The most important point to remember is that you should allow your pet PLENTY of time to get acclimatized to the new airline approved travel crate – we recommend at least 2 weeks.

At the time of booking, we will arrange to have the airline approved travel crate couriered to you on an overnight delivery service. It is recommended that your pet has at least 2 weeks to get used to the crate, but ideally your pet should have as much time as possible- this will really help to calm your pet’s nerves on the day of the flight and help your pet to feel safe and secure during their journey.

Another factor to take into consideration is applying for any pet travel paperwork. Again, depending on the destination, you may need to apply for pet import permits and these will need to be obtained prior to your pet’s flight. Of course if you are looking to book a full service, PBS Pet Travel can take care of pet import permit applications for you.

If your pet is travelling anywhere outside of the E.U. (Apart from the USA and Canada) Then your pet will need a DEFRA ( UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) export health certificate and PBS Pet Travel will be on hand to apply for this for you if required.

If you wish to apply for the DEFRA export health certificate yourself, you can do so by contacting DEFRA on: 01228 403600.

As a general rule, we require at least three weeks notice to make a booking. We can sometimes process bookings quicker than this, however making a last-minute pet travel booking is not recommended, due to the amount of detailed preparation work involved.

What do I need to book a flight for my Pet?

To make a pet booking with the airline, we must have the below information. So please make sure you have this ready for when we send you our booking form:
